Sleeping on the rim

The reason to stay is simple: the site empties at four in the afternoon, and everything good about this place happens after that.

The sun going down behind the pinnacles, the canyon filling with shadow

Rim tent

A standing-height canvas tent forty metres from the edge, with two camp beds and a view you open with a zip.

Six of these stand on the flat ground the community keeps clear. Real mattresses, cotton sheets, a mosquito net you will not need in the dry season but will be glad of in December.

Shared washblock with cold showers, which at the end of a day on the plateau is exactly what you want.

In the tent

  • Two camp beds, real mattresses
  • Solar lamp and a power bank charge point
  • Shared washblock, cold water

€40 / per night

Sleeps 2 · 6 available

Family tent

The same tent, one size up, with two extra beds and a groundsheet that survives children.

Four beds, room to stand, and enough floor to lose a shoe on. Two of the six pitches are set slightly back from the others, which matters when someone wakes at five.

Children under six stay free; we still need to know they are coming so the kitchen can plan.

In the tent

  • Four beds, standing height
  • Set back from the fire circle
  • Children under six stay free

Pitch for your own tent

Flat, cleared, ten metres square, with access to the washblock and the fire. Bring everything else.

For travellers carrying their own kit. The pitch fee includes the conservation levy, water, and a place at the long table if you want dinner.

Wild camping outside the marked pitches is not permitted: the ground is unstable near the edge and the association enforces this.

In the tent

  • Cleared, level ground
  • Washblock and drinking water
  • Place at the fire

Bungalow banda

Two solid rooms built from local timber and raffia thatch, with a private shower and a terrace facing east.

Built in 2024 by carpenters from Sadjoavato, using timber from the reforestation plots and thatch the weavers' group supplies.

The east terrace is the reason to book one: you can watch the sun come up without leaving the bed, which is more than the tents offer.

In the tent

  • Private shower and toilet
  • East-facing terrace
  • Solar power, lights and sockets
